Imagine that you are in a street fight vs 5 people and somehow if you are solo, you are stronger than if you have 4 friends to aid you. Here, due to the different balance, it is the opposite - 1-3 strong characters can wipe enemy squads much better than the full party. In Banner Saga, a couple of enemies you left strong till the end can wipe your entire team when all the other enemies are not present. However, all of that didn't hix the flawed foundation of the system with alternating turns. ![]() They are also more varied in setup (the first solo battle with a certain ninja was VERY fun) ![]() In Ash of Gods, you can't do this since attack is not connected to HP, which makes battles much more tactical. This was really boring and drove me nuts towards the end, even though made me win every possible battle in the hardest possible setting. In BS, I had to lower all enemies to 1-3 health, and when it is done, erase them in a handful of moves. There is also even more choice and branching, don't know if it is good or bad thing.īattle system is way better than BS for my taste. ![]() The characters are more interesting and varied too. The writing is worse (sometimes really low-quality), but somehow the story itself is more interesting in my opinion. It is very close, but still different in many aspects.
